Pastor: Friar Mark Weaver, OFM Conv.
Friar
Mark is often asked what country he is from, because he has picked up a
weird accent from his many years from when he was a student in Rome and
the 25 years he was a missionary in Central America. Actually he is one
of 12 brothers and sisters raised in a farm community in northeastern
Ohio. The years in Central America were quite an eye-opener about
poverty, social injustice, and cultural diversity. Now Terre Haute seems
pretty nice and even pretty tame in comparison. He is a big fan of St
Francis of Assisi, and of the Franciscan Family, and shares that love
with St. Joe's university students.
Associate Pastor: Friar John Bamman, OFM Conv.
Friar
John set off to become a friar as a "late vocation" meaning he has an
eclectic employment history before the Conventual Franciscans including:
tree planter in the Pacific Northwest, ski patrol, CYO camp counselor,
truck driver and tour bus guide in Alaska. Come by for a visit and
listen to a tale from the road, it just might be a true one!!! Friar
John is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys the integration of
Franciscan spirituality and the next outdoor adventure.

About Franciscans
The
Conventual Franciscan Friars live life as sons of St. Francis of Assisi
and faithful to the Roman Catholic Church. They live a vowed,
communal life, continuously turning to the Lord, confident and grateful
that the Lord sends them as brothers. Their mission is to proclaim
the Gospel and serve the "Poor Christ," wherever the need is greatest.
